About the Role
Rossman Construction Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Formwork Carpenter to join our team working on electrical substation, civil infrastructure, and commercial construction projects throughout Sydney and surrounding areas.
The successful applicant will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork systems for reinforced concrete structures while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Set out and construct formwork for reinforced concrete structures.
- Build and install formwork for substation foundations, transformer plinths, cable trenches, pits, retaining walls, footings, slabs, and associated civil structures.
- Assemble, erect, brace, and strip conventional and proprietary formwork systems.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other formwork materials.
- Install cast-in items, penetrations, and block-outs in accordance with project requirements.
- Assist with concrete pours and monitor formwork integrity during placement.
- Conduct formwork inspections prior to concrete placement.
- Safely dismantle and remove formwork following concrete curing.
- Work in accordance with project SWMS, safety procedures, and site requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, crane crews, dogmen, steel fixers, and concreters to ensure works are completed efficiently.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and clean condition.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Formwork Carpenter.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial, civil, infrastructure, or substation construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings.
- Experience constructing footings, slabs, walls, columns, pits, trenches, and reinforced concrete structures.
- Sound knowledge of formwork systems and safe work practices.
- Current Construction White Card (mandatory).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Current driver's licence preferred.
