Chef Ceylon serves dine-in, takeaway, and catering customers and is well known for its Sri Lankan rice and curry, kottu roti, hoppers, seafood dishes, and other traditional specialties. The restaurant is committed to delivering high-quality food, excellent customer service, and an authentic Sri Lankan dining experience in a welcoming and family-friendly environment.
Chef Ceylon is looking for a Cook to join their NSW team.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards.
- Assisting with food preparation, portioning, plating, and presentation of meals.
- Ensuring food is prepared in a timely manner during busy service periods.
- Maintaining food quality, consistency, and portion control standards.
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Monitoring ingredient freshness and reporting stock requirements to management.
- Assisting with receiving, storing, and rotating stock in accordance with food safety procedures.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Assisting with the preparation of special menu items and daily specials.
- Working cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations and customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills & Key Competencies :
· Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food preparation techniques.
· Ability to prepare and cook high-quality meals in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
· Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
· Ability to manage multiple orders and maintain consistency during busy service periods.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills within a kitchen environment.
· Ability to maintain high standards of food presentation and quality.
Experience Required:
· Minimum 1 year experience as a Cook in a fast-paced restaurant or similar environment
· Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
· Prior experience working with Sri Lankan cuisine is an added advantage.
· Food Safety / Food Handling Certificate is preferred.
· Good English communication skills.

Salary: $76000-$82000/year +Super
Pay: $76,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
