The Salvation Army Stores are vibrant places where great things happen: generous people donate amazing items, customers enjoy an ever-changing selection of goods, volunteers gain friendships and share experiences, all whilst raising much-needed funds to assist the most vulnerable in our community.
The Online Sales Assistant has the exciting responsibility of optimising sales revenue from antique, collectable, designer clothing and other higher priced items by listing them our online sales accounts. This important role not only brings in vital revenue which in turn provides funding for local community support, it also honours our donors who would expect the high value items they have generously given to The Salvation Army are resulting in good returns and positive impact on the community.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Marketing items: With a promotional and detailed approach, clean and style items for photographing so buyers can clearly view the item and are excited to take part in bidding. Create listing descriptions that are accurate and enticing, along with instructions on how to purchase and collect or have shipped.
Qualifications and skills (desired/required)
Good knowledge of antiques, collectables, designer clothing and other high value items such as appliances and tools, and how to research these items.

Development opportunities with this role
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to continue to build skills and knowledge in antiques, collectables, designer clothing and other high value items, plus customer service, online sale processes and computer skills. More broadly, volunteers in this role will experience the importance of fundraising to support Salvation Army’s community services and the workings of a large not for profit, religious organisation.
Time Required & Commitment
Development opportunities with this role:
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in retail practices, valuations of donations, sorting and stocking of shelves, as well as experience in working as a part of a team. Volunteers will receive on the job training and support, working alongside experience retail professionals in a caring and supportive environment. As an extra bonus, volunteers have access to professional development training.
