About the Opportunity
Inspire, educate and shape the next generation of nurses in a modern and progressive surgical environment. An exciting permanent part-time opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Educator to join our growing Surgical Services team. Based within a modern facility close to Newcastle, you'll support three surgical wards while playing a key role in developing the knowledge, confidence and clinical capability of our nursing workforce. Working within a collaborative education team, you'll be supported by experienced Nurse Educators, fellow Clinical Nurse Educators and nursing leaders who are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence. This role offers excellent opportunities to further develop your leadership, education and clinical skills, with ongoing support for continued professional development and education. What You Will Be Doing
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will lead and support education initiatives across the surgical wards to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver clinical education and bedside teaching to nursing staff.
- Support orientation, competency assessments and ongoing professional development.
- Identify learning needs across the wards and develop targeted education strategies.
- Design, implement and evaluate education programs that promote evidence-based practice.
- Mentor and coach staff to build clinical capability and confidence.
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists and multidisciplinary teams to support workforce development.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support the implementation of new clinical practices and models of care.

About you
You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for education, mentoring and developing others. You enjoy building capability within teams and are committed to creating positive learning environments that support both staff and patient outcomes. Our ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is organised, approachable and confident working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. You are proactive in identifying education needs and motivated to develop innovative learning opportunities that strengthen clinical practice. Experience within surgical services is highly desirable, and previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator or in a nursing education role will be highly regarded. Essential Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence.
- Strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate clinical education.
- Commitment to supporting staff development and lifelong learning.
Desirable
- Experience working within surgical services.
- Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator or similar education role.
Postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Education, Nursing Education or a related field (or working towards).
