UON is currently seeking experienced and self-motivated Senior Contracts Specialist to be based at our Head office in Malaga, Perth.
The purpose of the Senior Contracts Specialist is to be responsible for ensuring that the Company’s Contractual, Commercial and Project Control functions are managed effectively. The role supports the performance of Project Contract Specialists, Quantity Surveyors and Contract Administrators in the business.
The position covers a wide range of functions including but not limited to:
- Project reviews and project support.
- Contractual, legal and insurance claim management.
- Functional management of contracts staff.
- System and Procedure Compliance, improvement and development.
To be considered for this role:
- Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline.
- Be accredited with MRICS, AAIQS, MCIOB or working towards.
- A minimum of 10 years industry experience working in a similar role or in Contracts Administration in a construction/mining environment, preferably in contracts management.
- Proven experience on various forms of contracting arrangements.
- Solid background in tendering, estimating, finance and project controls.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Remeasurement of as-built and design change quantities: Measure, verify and collate changes, report and present in a format suitable for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contract Administration: Manage procurement, budgets, progress claims and documentation. Ensure compliance with company procedures, statutory, and legal requirements.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Perform cost control, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, subcontract claim reviews, and commercial negotiations. Ensure budgetary targets are met or exceeded.
- Client Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with the client, negotiate contractual matters, and ensure timely invoice payments.
- Contract Management: Manage all contract information, draw up subcontract and supplier documentation, and oversee multiple projects as directed.
- Risk Management: Minimise risk exposure to Company.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project delivery systems, policies, and procedures.
- Awareness Raising: Raise awareness of contractual and commercial issues within the project team. Attend meetings and coordinate with engineers to manage progress claims.
- Technical Requirements: Capture and assess changes to technical requirements, ensuring all impacts on time and cost are claimed under the head contract.
- Procurement & Subcontract Management: Oversee procurement processes, tender evaluations, subcontract agreements, and monitor subcontractor performance.
