About the Role
As the Clinical Lead Veterinarian, you will play a pivotal role in driving clinical excellence and supporting the development of our veterinary team. This is a dual-focused role, combining hands-on clinical work with leadership, mentoring, and training responsibilities.
You will act as a trusted advisor and mentor, providing guidance to veterinarians on the floor while role modelling best practice and positive behaviours. Working closely with the leadership team, you will help shape clinical standards, support operational success, and foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
Please note this is a permanent role with 32-38hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and uphold clinical excellence through best practice standards, policies, and procedures
- Provide on-the-floor leadership, mentoring, and support to veterinarians
- Coach and develop team members through feedback, training, and individual development planning
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and structured induction programs
- Facilitate ongoing training and ensure clinical knowledge remains current
- Promote a positive team culture and proactively manage communication and team dynamics
- Assist with administrative and operational tasks alongside the Practice Manager
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care including triage, diagnostics, treatment, and surgical procedures
About You
You are an experienced veterinarian with a passion for emergency and critical care, and a natural ability to lead and mentor others.
- Proven experience in veterinary practice, ideally within emergency or critical care
- Strong clinical skills with a commitment to continuous learning and evidence-based practice
- Leadership capability with the ability to influence, guide, and support a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in decision-making and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- A collaborative mindset and a genuine passion for developing others
- A positive, resilient attitude aligned with AEA’s values
