We are seeking a qualified and experienced Driver Trainer and Assessor to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for our heavy road train and bus driver operational teams, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Working closely with our operations teams, you will deliver engaging and practical training that supports compliance, operational excellence, and safe work practices across our bus and transport operations.
A key aspect of this role will involve supporting and mentoring team members from the Philippines, ensuring a culturally inclusive and effective training environment.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging training programs and practical coaching.
- Develop and maintain training materials and competency assessments.
- Develop and continuously improve training policies and procedures.
- Support compliance activities, audits and driver competency reviews.
- Partner with Operations to conduct training needs analyses and improve driver capability.
- Promote a strong safety culture, teamwork and continuous improvement across the business.
- Develop high quality training material aligned with industry and Northfleet standards.
- Ensure training materials are compliant with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Adapt training methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of our team members, including drivers from the Philippines.
- Continuously evaluate training outcomes and work to improve delivery based on feedback and performance.
- Assist in maintaining accurate training records in compliance with industry regulations.
About You
-
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE), with experience in training and assessing the competence of heavy vehicle and bus operators in a variety of operational environments.
- Current MC Licence with extensive heavy vehicle driving experience including up to triple road trains.
- Extensive experience in load restraint and Chain of Responsibly, and in the delivery of high-quality training of these activities
- Strong understanding of transport operations, industry best practice and Main Roads compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills with a passion for developing people.
- Sound knowledge of heavy vehicle legislation, fatigue management and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently while building strong relationships across the business.
- High level of computer literacy, with the ability to develop procedures, training documentation, SWIs and VOCs.
- Strong systems experience including in safety management systems and training matrix development, gap analysis and reporting.
- Previous experience in training and mentoring team members from the Philippines is highly regarded.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- Exposure to hire industry or transport and logistics is highly advantageous.
- Willing to travel regularly to the Pilbara region and potentially the Philippines.
