Casual Food & Beverage Attendant – Events & Functions
We are building a new casual event team for weddings, private functions, cultural celebrations and large events at a major event venue in Rocklea, Brisbane.
We are looking for reliable, well-presented people who enjoy working as part of a team and want flexible, well-paid casual event work, particularly on Friday evenings and weekends.
This is an ongoing casual position rather than recruitment for a single event. Shifts are offered around upcoming functions and your availability, making the role well suited to university students, people with another job, or anyone looking for flexible additional work.
Pay rates
Current adult casual rates for this role are:
- Monday–Friday before 7pm: $33.85 per hour
- Monday–Friday from 7pm to midnight: $36.80 per hour
- Saturday: $40.62 per hour
- Sunday: $47.39 per hour
- Public holidays: $67.70 per hour
- Plus superannuation
The above rates apply to employees aged 20 and over. For employees under 20, the relevant junior award rates apply.
Hours
Most shifts will be approximately 8 hours.
Exact start and finish times vary between events, but most shifts will run for approximately 8 hours, generally from the afternoon or early evening through to around midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
This is casual event-based work, so there are no guaranteed weekly hours. You will be offered shifts according to upcoming events, staffing requirements and your availability.
You do not need to be available every weekend, although regular Friday and/or weekend availability will make it easier for us to offer you ongoing shifts.
What you'll actually be doing
This is a hands-on front-of-house event role.
Depending on the event and where you are allocated, your shift may include:
- Setting up tables, chairs, linen and place settings before guests arrive
- Preparing function and service areas for the event
- Making sure tables and guest areas are clean, organised and presentation-ready
- Welcoming guests and helping direct them around the venue
- Assisting with food service during weddings and functions
- Carrying and serving plates, trays, water and non-alcoholic beverages
- Clearing plates, glassware and tables throughout the event
- Resetting and tidying tables between courses
- Replenishing water, service items and other guest requirements
- Supporting catering and event supervisors during service
- Keeping service areas clean and organised throughout the night
- Responding to guest requests and directing anything outside your role to a supervisor
- Assisting with room resets as the event progresses
- Helping clear, pack down and reset the venue at the end of the night
- Moving tables, chairs and event equipment where reasonably required
- Working with the rest of the event team to keep the function running smoothly and on schedule
Who we're looking for

- Happy taking direction from event supervisors
- Proactive and willing to help the rest of the team
- Comfortable with practical event work such as serving, clearing, setup and pack-down
- Able to reliably travel to Rocklea, including after evening shifts finishing around midnight
Previous experience in hospitality, weddings, functions, catering, restaurants or events is highly regarded but not essential.
We're happy to train capable people with a good attitude, strong work ethic and genuine reliability.
You do not have to be available for every event.
The aim is to build a strong casual team that we can roster according to each person's availability and the requirements of each function.
