About the Role
Shoobeck Pty Ltd trading as Next Door Restaurant & Bar is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our team. This is a full-time position suited to a candidate who can operate in a fast-paced kitchen environment and maintain high standards of food quality and safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting the production department including with managing food inventory and storage in compliance with quality and safety standards and ordering food
- Collaborating in kitchen activities according to deadlines and volumes
- Operating ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment to prepare food safely and consistently
- Preparing food for customers as per the restaurant’s recipe including cooking, seasoning, and portioning food items
- Plating and presenting meals to the required standard before service
- Modifying menu items to cater for dietary needs and preferencesCarrying out quality assurance of food products to ensure consistent, high-quality food
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area adhering to all kitchen procedures, OH&S and Food-Hygiene standards
- Collaborating with Chef to prepare and develop food and beverage menus
- Communicating effectively with front-of-house staff and kitchen staff
- Ensuring meals are produced on time and sufficient quantities are available for the various areas
- Assisting in maintaining stock levels of all kitchen supplies
- Training new staff the skills required to work at Made in Italy
- Monitoring and reducing food wastage
Skills and Experience Required
· Relevant qualification (at least Cert IV) in commercial cookery or in a related field
· At least 12 months of relevant work experience as a Cook post qualification OR at least 3 years of work experience as a Cook
· Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
· Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
· Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high volume environment
· Strong organisational and communication skills
· Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Salary
$79500 plus superannuation
