Mama Taco is a vibrant and welcoming Mexican restaurant located in West End, Brisbane. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, we are passionate about delivering authentic Mexican flavours and exceptional dining experiences. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum two years of experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Professional, organised, and reliable approach to food preparation.
- Understanding of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy considerations.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, split shifts, and public holidays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing and cooking a variety of Mexican dishes for lunch and dinner service.
- Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness.
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
- Seasoning and preparing food in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
- Portioning and presenting dishes to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction.
- Preparing meals to meet special dietary requirements where required.
- Assisting with stock rotation, storage, and maintaining temperature-controlled food preservation.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Working collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
