The Opportunity
KBR is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Advisor to support the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) one of Australia’s most significant Defence capability programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your strategic writing, analysis, and communication skills to support a nationally important program. Working closely with project teams, technical specialists, and senior stakeholders, you will transform complex information into clear, compelling, and decision-ready documents that support government decision-making and Defence outcomes.
This role can be based in either Melbourne or Canberra, providing flexibility for the right candidate to join the KBR team.
Responsibilities:

Develop high-quality Cabinet submissions, business cases, executive briefs, reports, and strategic documentation aligned with government requirements.

Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, gather feedback, and incorporate insights into document development.

Conduct research and analysis to support the development of evidence-based advice and recommendations.
-
Collaborate with project managers, technical professionals, and stakeholders to gather and validate complex information.

Translate technical, operational, and financial information into clear, concise, and persuasive written content.

Develop key messages, presentations, infographics, and communication materials for GWEO Enterprise leadership.

Provide strategic advice and recommendations to support senior decision makers.

Monitor relevant media and industry developments and provide insights on potential impacts.

Continuously improve writing processes and communication methodologies to enhance effectiveness across the program.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
-
Experience developing strategic communications, government submissions, executive briefs, business cases, or high-level reports.

Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for senior audiences.

Experience working with government, Defence, consulting, or large-scale programs (highly desirable).

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
-
Ability to analyse information, identify key messages, and produce high-quality written outputs under tight deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
