Primary objective
You will manage the design, coordination and delivery of system-wide career development, capability building and professional
learning initiatives across the employee journey. You will also manage complex projects that strengthen workforce capability,
support career pathways and improve workforce retention across the NT education system.
Context statement
Career Development, within the School Leadership, Culture and Care team, manages system-wide initiatives that build workforce
capability. The unit coordinates orientation, capability pathways, leadership and aspirant programs, professional learning alignment
with performance standards and system priorities. The role works across the employee journey with schools, corporate areas and
NT Government partners to support coherent, evidence-informed capability development.
Key duties and responsibilities
The role manages complex projects that support system-wide workforce capability, coordinating project planning, governance,
delivery and reporting. It designs and delivers career development, capability and professional learning initiatives across the
employee journey, and prepares high-quality briefs, reports and submissions using clear evidence and analysis. The role works with
schools, corporate areas, NT Government partners and external service providers to support consultation, co-design and
implementation. It collects and analyses data to evaluate outcomes, identify risks and inform continuous improvement. The role
manages procurement and administration of contractors and also develops tools, resources and guidance for capability
development, professional learning and performance frameworks
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience managing multiple complex projects or programs, including planning, procurement, coordination, monitoring,
evaluation and high-level reporting in an education or large, complex or geographically diverse organisation.
2. High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and well-structured briefs, reports
and submissions for senior executives and officials.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess risk, evaluate outcomes and provide
evidence-based advice.
4. Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and work with people from diverse
cultural and geographic contexts.
5. Demonstrated adaptability, judgement and independence, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and
contribute to strategic workforce and capability outcomes.
Desirable
1. Qualifications or formal training in project management, capability development, adult learning, organisational development
or a related field.
