Primary objective
Through the Senior Director, Economic Delivery and Strategy, provide high quality advice to government agencies by
undertaking research and analysing issues across a broad range of public policy areas, including economic and lifestyle
priorities and contribute to the development, assessment and implementation of policies and projects that facilitate
economic development and support lifestyle outcomes in the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Under direction, efficiently research and provide quality and evidence-based analysis, commentary and advice across a
diverse range of public policy issues that impact on the Northern Territory.
2. Contribute to cross-agency coordination and implementation of specific policy initiatives and projects, including
participating in the development and delivery of policy related projects.
3. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with Northern Territory Government, including a focus on
connecting with, and drawing upon, subject matter expertise across the Department’s divisions.
4. Prepare high quality reports, briefings and correspondence, including ministerial and Legislative Assembly briefings, and
Cabinet submissions.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in policy development and evidence-based analysis in relation to complex economic or lifestyle policy
2. issues and in the provision of clear and considered advice that reflects sound research and the use of strategic,
conceptual and analytical skills to identify available options.
3. Well-developed oral, written, collaborative and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate
with influence, to exercise discretion and provide, meaningful and accurate information and advice.
4. Effective organisational and time management skills with the ability to participate in concurrent projects, to be proactive,
and to prioritise tasks.
5. Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team and to collaborate with internal
and external stakeholders, demonstrated by working effectively with people at all levels, including people from diverse
cultures.
6. Demonstrated research skills, attention to detail and capacity to deliver high quality work outputs.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
2. An understanding of the key issues affecting the Northern Territory’s economy and lifestyle.
