About the role
The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial accounting, reporting & control activities across the business. This role is suited to a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys understanding and improving processes, supporting business change, and ensuring accurate and well-controlled financial outcomes. The role works closely with business stakeholders to ensure financial data integrity and compliance with accounting standards, while also supporting the ongoing evolution of finance systems and process.
Role responsibilities include:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare month-end accounting entries, including accruals, prepayments, amortisation, and reclassification journals.
Manage revenue, cash, debtor, and investment accounting activities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statutory reporting requirements.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items.
Provide support for the annual statutory audit and respond to audit queries and supporting information requests.
Process Improvement, Controls & Projects

Identify and support improvements to financial processes, controls, reporting, and data quality, including assisting with process documentation.

Participate in finance transformation, system implementation and business change initiatives.

Support project accounting, project reporting and finance-related project activities as required.
Stakeholder Support

Build effective working relationships across the business, including finance operational teams, to support finance objectives and business outcomes.

Respond to ad hoc accounting, reporting, analysis and operational queries.
About you
Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline.
CA/CPA qualified, part-qualified, or a desire to attain to qualification would be preferred.
Around 2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in a financial services environment, however other industry experience will be considered. This role may suit someone looking to use their audit experience in a more hands-on financial accounting role.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience applying accounting standards in a practical business environment.
Experience with Workday, TechOne, TM1 or other similar finance systems as well as proficiency in MS Excel and Office.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
Excellent attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and the ability to operate independently and manage time and priorities.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as a continuous improvement mindset.
