Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a broad range of light vehicle mechanical repair, diagnostic, servicing and maintenance duties, including but not limited to:
- Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in motor vehicles using diagnostic scan tools, workshop equipment and technical knowledge.
- Carry out scheduled servicing, oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks and routine maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
- Test, inspect and diagnose engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems and other vehicle components to identify faults and performance issues.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged or faulty parts and reassemble mechanical components in accordance with service manuals and safe workshop procedures.
- Inspect, test and adjust mechanical parts after repairs to ensure correct vehicle operation and roadworthiness.
- Diagnose and repair basic vehicle electrical system issues, including batteries, sensors, lights, wiring-related faults and electronic diagnostic fault codes.
- Conduct brake, suspension, cooling system, steering and engine-related inspections and repairs.
- Use diagnostic scan tools, hand tools, power tools, hoists and other workshop equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect vehicles and prepare reports on required repairs, replacement parts and recommended maintenance.
- Liaise with workshop management and team members regarding repair progress, parts requirements and customer service expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high professional standard, within reasonable timeframes and in line with customer expectations
Skills and Experience Required:
- Relevant qualification in automotive mechanical technology, light vehicle mechanical technology, automotive mechanical diagnosis or a closely related field.
- At least 1–3 years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, Light Vehicle Mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems and routine servicing requirements.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and basic electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and practical workshop experience.
- Experience using scan tools, hoists, hand tools, power tools and other automotive workshop equipment.
- Ability to read and follow service manuals, technical instructions and repair procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good time management skills and the ability to complete work efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Current Australian driver’s licence will be highly regarded.
Pay: $77,000.00 – $81,000.00 per year
