The Hungry Hog is a brand new shop, opening end June 2026. We are a proud, family-run butcher shop that will be serving the Kariong community with top-quality cuts and friendly, old-school service. We value craftsmanship, reliability, and a team-first attitude.
The role:
We’re seeking a qualified butcher to join our small, supportive team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll keep standards high and customers happy.
Key responsibilities
- Break bodies to shop-ready primals with minimal waste and strong yield.
- Prepare retail cuts and build attractive, well-presented trays.
- Make fresh sausages to house recipes (and help develop new flavours).
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers.
- Support stock control: receiving, rotating, and minimising waste.
- Keep the prep area and equipment clean and well-maintained.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified butcher with demonstrated experience
- Confident breaking bodies, cutting retail trays, and sausage making.
- Strong knife skills, speed with accuracy, and attention to presentation.
- Reliable, positive, and team-oriented with good customer service.
- Understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
