Part-Time Principal Solicitor/ Legal Compliance Officer
Location: Perth, Western Australia (hybrid considered)

Salary: Competitive – pro-rata of $100,000 - 190,000 FTE, depending on experience

We are recruiting for an international law firm establishing a new practice in Western Australia. As part of their launch, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Compliance Officer to ensure our firm operates to the highest professional and regulatory standards. This is a unique opportunity to join at the foundation stage and play a key role in building our compliance culture.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Partners, the Legal Compliance Officer will:
- Develop, implement, and oversee compliance policies and procedures for the new practice.
- Ensure adherence to requirements of the Legal Practice Board of WA, including trust account compliance, insurance, and CPD obligations.
- Advise on regulatory obligations relating to privacy, AML/CTF, workplace compliance, and professional conduct.
- Conduct internal audits, maintain registers, and prepare compliance reports.
- Support risk management and complaints handling processes.
- Provide training and guidance to partners and staff.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Prior experience as a Compliance Officer/Manager within a law firm or other regulated professional services environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian legal regulatory requirements, especially in Western Australia.
- Strong understanding of AML/CTF, privacy, and professional conduct frameworks.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders confidently.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to compliance management.
