The Pawfessionals are the pet professionals, a locally, family owned and operated business that offers a variety of services to meet the needs of pets and their owners. The Pawfessionals are looking for a dog walker to join our team on a casual basis with an immediate start. The position is based around five days per week (Monday - Friday, approx. 8am – 2 pm) with a flexible daily roster of 2 - 3 walks per day. There is potential for more walks, roster dependent.
Working hours and payment are based on a per dog / per walk basis, there is short distance traveling between each walk completed. Work will be completed using a company vehicle.
The position will be based in our service area of Ryde and surrounding suburbs.
The Pawfessionals are looking for the following in a successful candidate:
- Experience working with dogs preferred, must be calm, comfortable and confident with dogs of all sizes and breeds. Experience in the animal industry or an animal care/handling qualification is preferred but not essential
- An ability to work independently in a physically active role
- Someone who is professional, independent, reliable, responsible, committed, hard-working, organised and flexible with excellent communication skills
- A familiarity with Ryde and surrounding suburbs is preferred
What does a Pawfessionals dog walker do as part of each walk?
- Exercise and socialise groups of up to 4 dogs, both on leash, walking the local area and off leash, at designated off leash dog parks, walks are one hour in length
- Ensure that during the hour walk, the walker is walking with, interacting with and supervising the group of dogs at all times
- Safe pick up / drop off of dogs, if necessary, within group to individual addresses using The Pawfessionals’s vehicle
- Remove dog waste from the area where the dogs are walked using plastic bags provided
- Dogs must be walked in all weather conditions, with the exception of extreme as determined by The Pawfessionals
- Use basic positive training methods during walks
The successful candidate must also:
- Have a current NSW driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Complete police check and driving record check at own cost if requested
- Have their own mobile phone capable of taking photographs, the ability to send these photographs at the end of each day for social media use (usually via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger)
- Provide references if requested
- Be willing to make a long-term commitment to the role (minimum 12 months)
- Be willing to undergo a couple hours of voluntary training in order for The Pawfessionals and candidate to assess suitability for role
- Be available Monday - Friday, generally between 8am and 2pm
