Powerhouse Museum is located at the intersection of arts, design, science, and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is the custodian of more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia. We are undertaking a landmark $1.3 billion infrastructure renewal program, led by the creation of Powerhouse Parramatta; expanded research and public facilities at Powerhouse Castle Hill; the heritage revitalisation of the iconic Powerhouse Ultimo; and the ongoing operation of Sydney Observatory.

The Duty Manager coordinates the day-to-day operation of visitor-facing services across Powerhouse Parramatta, acting as the operational escalation point during rostered shifts to support safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery. Operating within a complex 24-hour environment, the role coordinates frontline operations across Visitor Hospitality, Lang Walker Academy and Powerhouse Residencies, ensuring visitors, guests, residents and students receive a safe, welcoming and consistent experience. The role responds to operational issues, incidents and visitor enquiries, coordinates frontline staff and contractor activities, supports operational readiness and works collaboratively with Security, Facilities, Programming, Events and Hospitality teams to maintain service continuity. The role operates on a rotating roster across a 24-hour operational environment, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
