Safety Officer– Power Station Project

Approx. 12-week project | Full-time hours Casual Position | Immediate start
MightyLagg Group is looking for an experienced Safety Officer to join our team for an upcoming project at a Hunter Valley power station.
This is a site-based role supporting the project team with day-to-day health, safety and environmental requirements.
We are open to contractor, casual or fixed-term employment arrangements depending on the right person.
The role
You will work alongside our project team, supervisors and site personnel to make sure work is carried out safely and in line with Company, Project and site requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting to Senior management
- Attending Site safety meetings and reporting back to Site Manager
- Providing HSE support to supervisors and site personnel
- Conducting site inspections and safety observations
- Reviewing SWMS, risk assessments and project safety documentation
- Participating in pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Monitoring compliance with site and project HSE requirements
- Identifying hazards and assisting with risk controls
- Supporting incident and near-miss investigations
- Maintaining HSE records and reporting
- Monitoring PPE and site compliance
- Assisting with audits and corrective actions
- Working with the project team to address safety issues as they arise
What we're looking for
You will need:
- Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety
- Good communication skills
- Previous experience in an HSE Advisor, Safety Advisor or similar site-based role
- Good working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and relevant standards
- Experience with SWMS, risk assessments, incident investigations and safety inspections
- Construction White Card
- Work Safely at Heights
- Confined Space Entry
- Current driver's licence
- Good communication and computer skills
- Ability to work confidently with Client, supervisors, trades and contractors
Previous experience in power generation, shutdowns, outages, heavy industry, Mining, construction or maintenance projects will be highly regarded.
Power station experience is preferred but not essential if you have strong relevant industrial experience.
Site requirements
The successful applicant will need to meet the power station's site-entry requirements, including relevant inductions and may be required to complete:
- Pre-employment medical
- Drug and alcohol testing
- Site-specific training and inductions

Rate: Negotiable based on experience and engagement type
