Key Responsibilities
As a Motorcycle Mechanic at GBL RENTAL EXPRESS (AUD) PTY LTD, you will be responsible for maintaining, testing and repairing motorcycles within the company’s rental fleet to ensure safety, reliability and compliance with applicable standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Detects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults in motorcycle engines and related components using appropriate diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and technical knowledge.
- Dismantles and removes engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, braking systems and other components, and inspects parts to identify faults, wear, and required repairs.
- Repairs and replaces worn and defective parts and reassembles mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, referring to service manuals and technical documentation as required.
- Performs scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups to ensure efficient operation of motorcycles and compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
- Reassembles engines and mechanical components following repair and maintenance work to restore full operational functionality.
- Tests and adjusts mechanical components after repair to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability under normal operating conditions.
- Diagnoses and tests motorcycle components using computerised diagnostic systems and specialised tools to accurately identify and resolve faults.
- Inspects motorcycles and identifies work required to achieve roadworthiness and compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
- Responds to motorcycle breakdowns and performs on-site or urgent repair services where required to restore operational functionality.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- An AQF Certificate III in Motorcycle Mechanical Technology or a closely related qualification, or AQF Certificate IV.
- Alternatively, at least three years of relevant full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience as a Motorcycle Mechanic may substitute for formal qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in motorcycle engines and associated components using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Proven experience in dismantling, repairing and reassembling motorcycle engines, transmissions, braking systems and other mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Experience performing scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Competency in testing and adjusting mechanical components after repair to ensure proper performance, safety and reliability.
- Experience using computerised diagnostic systems and specialised tools to identify and resolve faults.
- Ability to inspect motorcycles and identify work required to achieve roadworthiness and compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment, including responding to breakdowns and urgent repair requirements.
