About the role.
Inca Home Services has recently opened two new SIL Houses and is looking for experienced and qualified, Disability & Mental Health Support Workers to join our SIL team in Cessnock NSW. As a Disability & Mental Health Worker, you will provide tailored support to our vulnerable participants living with multiple complex needs including, but not limited to mental health, complex trauma, dual diagnosis, dual disability, forensic disability and physical health and wellness.
This is a casual position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our clients.
Essential qualifications of the role
- Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or in a related field and/or equivalent experience working in a relevant setting.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Disability or Mental Health Support
- Hold a current NSW Working with Children check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
- National Police check with a minimum of 6 months validity.
- Current Driver’s license with own transport and Comprehensive Insurance
- Hold a current NDIS work screening check
- Demonstrated understanding of working with vulnerable people to live their best life
- Experience in working with people with Disabilities, Mental Health and Complex Behaviours
- Flexibility to work on weekdays and or weekends.
- Candidates must hold a valid work visa or have Australian work rights
Duties Involved:
- Providing personalized care inclusive of personal care and medication assistance
- Support to clients with disabilities with daily living tasks and activities
- Provide consistent, person-centered support to a participant with complex mental health and behavioural needs within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to address behaviours of concern.
- Assisting participants to achieve their goals and maintain their independence
- Engaging in meaningful activities and social outings
- Documenting progress and updates in line with organisational policies
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment for clients
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
