5 Boroughs Springwood is seeking a passionate, fast-paced Chef / Line Cook to join our kitchen team. Inspired by the diverse food culture of New York’s five boroughs, we serve up high-quality burgers, wings, steaks, and street food. You will be responsible for preparing and executing menu items to high standards, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring consistent food presentation during high-volume service periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Execution: Prep ingredients and cook menu items (burgers, ribs, wings, grills) efficiently according to established recipes and presentation specifications.
- Station Management: Set up, stock, and maintain your designated kitchen station for peak service times.
- Quality Control: Ensure all food leaves the kitchen meeting our high standards for taste, temperature, and visual appeal.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Adhere strictly to food handling, food safety (HACCP), and kitchen sanitation protocols.
- Team Collaboration: Work cohesively with front-of-house and back-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and fast ticket times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Cook, Chef, or Short Order Cook in a fast-casual, high-volume restaurant environment.
- Skills: Strong knife skills, proficiency with grill/fry stations, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Certifications: Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or IV) is highly regarded but not mandatory for experienced candidates. Food Safety Supervisor certificate is a plus.
- Attributes: Reliability, strong work ethic, physical stamina for standing shifts, and a positive team player attitude.
- Availability: Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
