About the Role
We are seeking a Social Worker to join a supportive Social and Emotional Wellbeing team based in Mt Isa. This role provides frontline, client-centred support to individuals, families and communities, with a strong focus on trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
You will manage a varied caseload and work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and intake
- Deliver case management, counselling and therapeutic support
- Provide crisis intervention and advocacy
- Support clients experiencing mental health concerns, family violence, homelessness and social disadvantage
- Develop and implement individual and family support plans
- Coordinate care with internal programs and external services
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes and reporting
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Engage with community programs and initiatives
Skills and Experience
- Qualification in Social Work or relevant discipline
- Eligibility for or membership with AASW highly regarded
- Experience in case management and/or mental health
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and social determinants of health
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities highly regarded
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel to regional and remote communities
- National Police Check
- Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
