We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the overall day-to-day operations and business performance of the venue.
The Role
The Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, organising and overseeing the overall operations of the venue, including workforce management, rostering, purchasing and inventory, supplier relationships, operational systems, customer-service standards, regulatory compliance, cost control and financial performance.
Working closely with the business owner, the Operations Manager will ensure the venue operates efficiently and consistently while developing the team, maintaining service standards and implementing strategies to improve productivity, sales, profitability and overall business performance.
The position requires a hands-on manager with the ability to oversee multiple areas of the business and ensure that staffing, systems, suppliers, compliance and operational resources are effectively coordinated.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue.
- Develop, implement and regularly review operational policies, procedures and service standards.
- Manage staffing requirements, including recruitment, training, rostering, supervision and performance management.
- Establish appropriate staffing levels and coordinate workforce resources to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor sales, labour costs, stock costs and other operating expenses and take appropriate action to maintain efficient and profitable operations.
- Review operational and financial performance and implement strategies to improve productivity, control costs, increase revenue and support profitability.
- Manage purchasing, stock control, inventory systems and supplier relationships.
- Negotiate and liaise with suppliers to maintain product quality, availability and commercially appropriate purchasing arrangements.
- Oversee POS, rostering, inventory and other operational systems and ensure they are effectively maintained and utilised.
- Monitor service delivery and customer satisfaction and oversee the resolution of customer complaints and operational issues.
- Establish and maintain consistent standards across customer service, product quality and venue presentation.
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements, workplace health and safety obligations and other relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate operational records and assist with budgeting, cost monitoring and business performance reporting.
- Identify operational risks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement and implement appropriate corrective measures.
- Work closely with the business owner to develop and implement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, business performance and long-term growth.
- Coordinate with employees, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective business operations.
Skills & Experience
- Diploma or higher qualification in Business Management, Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years' relevant experience in an operations management, venue management or similar management role within a hospitality or service-based environment.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing the day-to-day operations of a business or hospitality venue.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience recruiting, supervising, training and developing staff.
- Experience in workforce planning, rostering and performance management.
- Experience in purchasing, stock control, inventory management and supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor revenue, labour costs and operating expenses and contribute to improved business performance and profitability.
- Experience developing and implementing operational procedures and service standards.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Sound commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for operational and business improvement.
- Strong customer-service focus and ability to manage service issues effectively.
- Sound knowledge of RSA, WHS and other relevant regulatory requirements applicable to hospitality operations.
- Knowledge of premium beverages, Japanese products and omotenashi service principles will be highly regarded.
