With a growing team, we are now looking for a versatile Trades Assistant / Rigger / Dogman to join our workshop team.
The Role
We are seeking a practical and reliable Trades Assistant / Rigger / Dogman to support our workshop operations. This is a varied, hands-on role involving rigging and dogging activities, material handling, assisting tradespeople, and general workshop duties. The position will suit someone who is mechanically minded, willing to get involved, and comfortable working around cranes, steel, plant, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing dogging and rigging activities associated with workshop lifting operations.
- Assisting with overhead crane lifts, material movements, loading, and unloading.
- Assisting boilermakers, fitters, and other trades with day-to-day workshop activities.
- Preparing and moving steel, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Setting up, inspecting, and maintaining lifting gear.
- Assisting with loading and unloading trucks and deliveries.
- Performing general workshop, yard, housekeeping, and labouring duties.
- Following all WHS policies and maintaining safe work practices.
About You
- Current Dogging (DG) High Risk Work Licence.
- Basic Rigging (RB) or higher highly regarded.
- Previous experience in a fabrication, mechanical, construction, or industrial environment.
- Comfortable working with cranes, lifting equipment, steel, tools, and machinery.
- Mechanically minded with good practical skills.
- Physically fit and willing to undertake a variety of hands-on duties.
- Forklift licence and additional high-risk tickets highly regarded.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Positive, can-do attitude with flexibility to assist wherever required.
