Primary objective
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, manage the Food Services team and be responsible for the safe production
and distribution of meals to clients of the Tennant Creek Hospital in accordance with Food Safe Standards. Provide guidance
of Hazard Analytical Critical Control Point Food Safe practices within the Food Services Team.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Prepare and provide appropriately nutritional meals following Menu Standards and Therapeutic Diet Guidelines.
2. Implement and manage Hazard Analytical Critical Control Point Food Safe practices or Food Safety Plan.
3. Provide leadership and foster a culture of a positive workplace culture through exemplary teamwork practices, team and
client focused service.
4. Provide clear communication when conveying complex issues or providing direction.
5. Ensure staff are trained to correctly identify Therapeutic dietary requirements for clients.
6. Ensure procurement of goods from contracted suppliers is in accordance with procurement guidelines.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
9. Preparedness and capacity to work shift work over a seven day roster with shifts commencing as per roster cycle.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated cooking and food service experience in a large commercial or Healthcare catering environment, including
menu planning and recipe formulation.
2. Demonstrated ability to correctly identify and prepare all Dietary requirements for patients.
3. Extensive experience in Demonstrated human resource skills including practical strategies to resolve conflict.
4. Demonstrated computer knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
5. Proven time management skills working in a complex environment with strict deadlines.
6. Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety and Infection Control practices as they apply in a healthcare
setting.
7. Displays self-motivation and a commitment to quality improvements as a part of change management.
8. High level written and oral communication skills and ability to manage staff.
9. Demonstrated understanding, and sound working knowledge of Hazard Analytical Critical Control Point Food Safe
practices.
Desirable
1. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
2. Certification in Leadership and Management or similar
