The Opportunity
Our employment team is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to join the team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of workplace matters including:
- Providing day to day employment law guidance to HR and in-house legal clients
- Advising on and representing clients in a variety of employment related claims, including claims for unfair dismissal, adverse action, bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract and underpayment of wages
- Dealing with industrial relations issues, including awards and enterprise bargaining
- Advising on WHS and managing with incidents
- Reviewing and drafting of contracts, policies, and settlement deeds
- Supporting our corporate team on all people aspects of mergers and acquisitions
- Undertaking workplace investigations; and
- Delivering training to clients on HR related topics.
We represent clients across a diverse range of industries and sectors which makes for an interesting, varied, and demanding practice.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New South Wales practising certificate
- Demonstrated experience across a range of general employment and IR matters
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling a practical and commercial approach to be taken
- Confidence to deal with clients and work collaboratively with other practice groups
- High degree of initiative, dedication and organisational ability with a strong client and commercial focus
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A strong, plain language communication style
