Electrical Engineer core responsibilities
· Electrical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager or an appointed POWINS representative appointed by the Engineering Manager specific to tasks or projects at hand.
· Manage their responsibilities, adhere to engineering directions provided and the Project specific drafting requirements in the role of Draftsperson.
· Assume responsibility for performance of tasks handed over to you for execution ensuring on time deliverables and on budget results are achieved.
· Manage and motivate your team and external resources available to you, to produce high quality work and ensure timelines are achieved.
· Direct, oversee and coordinate any resource placed at your control to assist you and notify the Engineering Manager should non-performance or sub-quality work be identified.
· Work within the POWINS team actively mentoring and evolving team skills through leadership of best practices, evolving engineering design, and gaining an insight into best manufacturing and testing procedures on a job-to-job basis. Be innovative in providing technical solutions.
· After discussion and approval from management take control and remedy any circumstance, situation, resource which is identified as counterproductive or in error. Aim to avoid the loss of profits and eliminate waste in processes.
· Ensure any directed interaction you have with manufacturing, leading hands, testing department, stores department or other persons is carried out professionally and on task. Ask the Engineering Manager if you require assistance to interact or need mentoring guidance.
· Manage and manipulate designs, situations and resources daily to ensure best outcomes are achieved.
· Actively plan for success utilising the Plan A, Plan B, Plan C process till the situation is resolved and required outcome achieved.
· Get and stay informed of the requirements, technical specification and scope of supply of the job or project for which you provide assistance.
· Resolve identified or directed matters with the assistance of suitably qualified people in the business extending to Management depending on the issues/matters observed.
· Provide assistance as directed to ensure the documentation of all jobs, projects and designs are brought to an “as-built” standard. Ensure all as-built drawings from manufacturing and testing departments are retrieved and mark-ups managed.
· The Electrical Engineer is expected to check all their completed works for correctness and conformity prior to reporting it completed.
· Provide assistance as directed to ensure all POWINS procedures and associated paperwork are completed and approved and in order prior to dispatch. This may require your interface to finalise requirements with the assistance of lead hands, testing officers and stores personnel.
· Should a resource be assigned under your direction you must ensure that you communicate clearly the required outcomes and allocate a firm timeline for completion for tasks.
· It is expected that you will manage resources to avoid information downtime, labour waste and check all completed works for correctness and conformity to the specifications as was advised to you by the Engineering Manager, including POWINS standards and procedures.
· Be familiar with and ask for training as required regarding the POWINS procedures.
· Take active involvement in the constant implementation and maintenance of AutoCAD and similar POWINS programs and systems to ensure best and latest practice is utilised.
· Identify new methods of design practice where possible to minimise labour spent, material procured and waste.
· Where directed, assume point of contact for the customer’s representative ensuring favourable customer relationships and effective communication are provided during contract.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
