We’re looking for an experienced learning and development professional to lead capability building across Strait Link.
If your happy place is seeing how things really work, you’ll love this role.
One week you could be sailing across Bass Strait, the next riding with a driver, walking a terminal or standing beside some of the biggest reach stackers you’ll ever see. Every experience is an opportunity to learn, teach and help others grow.
You’ll work across every part of Strait Link - from technical training and driver development through to leadership and professional development - helping our people build the skills and confidence to succeed.
About the role
This isn’t a traditional Learning & Development role.
You’ll be part of our People & Communications team, but your impact will be felt across the entire business.
From our vessels and terminals to our logistics operations and corporate functions, you’ll partner with leaders to strengthen technical capability, grow future leaders and create practical learning that makes a real difference.
No two days will look the same, and that’s exactly what makes this role unique.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop our team of Driver Trainers.
- Shape the future of technical training across our operational workforce.
- Create clear learning pathways that support career growth and internal mobility.
- Partner with leaders to identify development opportunities and deliver practical learning solutions.
- Design engaging leadership and professional development programs.
- Modernise learning through coaching, digital tools and hands-on experiences.
- Measure impact through stronger capability, improved performance and career progression.
You’ll thrive here if you…
- Love getting out into the business and learning how things work.
- Build credibility quickly with operational and corporate teams.
- Can translate technical expertise into practical learning.
- Believe the best development is relevant, engaging and immediately useful.
- Enjoy bringing people together to share knowledge and build skills.
- Are curious, practical and always looking for a better way.
Why Strait Link?
Every day, Strait Link connects Tasmania with mainland Australia through an integrated shipping and logistics network. Behind every crossing, every delivery and every customer experience are talented people who take pride in what they do.
This is your opportunity to work alongside them.
You’ll help capture their expertise, develop the next generation of talent and shape the way learning happens across the business. In return, you’ll enjoy a role that’s varied, hands-on and genuinely influential - where you’ll see the impact of your work every day.
