About ESLAN
ESLAN provides professional and executive communication coaching to individuals and organisations, with a strong focus on how people communicate in real-world workplace situations.
A key part of our approach is the Professional Communication Diagnostic Assessment, where clients participate in realistic simulated conversations and workplace scenarios while their communication is observed and assessed.
We are looking to build a small pool of casual role-play actors who can assist us with these assessments on an on-demand basis.
The Role
You may be asked to play roles such as:
- a prospective client or customer
- a colleague or team member
- a manager or senior executive
- a stakeholder or business partner
- a participant in a difficult workplace conversation
- another character relevant to a client's professional environment
You will usually receive a brief describing the character, situation and objectives of the interaction.
The aim is not to deliver a theatrical performance. We are looking for natural, believable and responsive interaction that allows the client to communicate as they genuinely would in a real professional situation.
Some scenarios may require you to improvise and adapt your responses according to how the conversation develops.
About You
You may be a good fit if you:
- have acting, improvisation, role-play or performance experience
- can portray characters naturally and credibly without overacting
- are comfortable improvising within a structured scenario
- can listen carefully and respond naturally in conversation
- have strong spoken English and interpersonal communication skills
- can follow a character brief while remaining flexible during the interaction
- are professional, reliable and discreet
- are comfortable interacting with professionals, managers and executives
Experience in corporate role-play, simulation training, facilitation, training, education or applied theatre would be particularly valuable, but is not essential.
Actors from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and professional profiles are encouraged to apply, as different client scenarios require different types of characters.
Engagement
This is a casual, on-demand role.
There are no guaranteed hours or regular shifts. Actors will be contacted when a suitable diagnostic assessment or simulation arises and can choose whether they are available for that particular assignment.
Most work will take place in Sydney, particularly the Sydney CBD, although some assessments may potentially be conducted online.
Assignments may vary in length depending on the assessment.
Why Work With ESLAN?
This is an opportunity to apply acting and improvisational skills in an unusual professional setting, helping us recreate realistic human interactions so that clients can better understand and improve how they communicate when it matters.
How to Apply
Please submit a brief application outlining:
- your acting, improvisation, role-play or relevant experience
- any experience with corporate training or professional simulations
- your general availability
- your location within Sydney
A CV or acting résumé is welcome but does not need to be extensive.
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an informal conversation and brief role-play exercise so we can assess suitability for future assignments.
