At Papilio Early Learning Croydon, we believe that healthy, nutritious meals play a vital role in children's growth, wellbeing and learning. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Centre Cook to join our welcoming team and create nutritious meals that children love.
Located in the heart of Croydon, our purpose-built early learning centre provides a warm, nurturing environment where children thrive. As our Centre Cook, you'll play an important role in supporting children's health, development and positive relationship with food.
As our Centre Cook, you will:
- Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children.
- Create healthy menus that meet dietary and nutritional guidelines.
- Cater for allergies, cultural preferences and individual dietary requirements.
- Manage food ordering, stock control and kitchen budgets.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance.
- Engage children in learning about healthy eating through centre activities and events.
- Access support from a national network of Affinity Education cooks who share recipes, ideas and best practices.
- Utilise the Feed Australia Program to assist with menu planning, budgeting and nutrition.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about healthy cooking and child nutrition.
- Experienced in bulk meal preparation and menu planning.
- Knowledgeable about food safety, health regulations and kitchen compliance.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage stock and ordering processes.
- Comfortable catering for diverse dietary needs and allergies.
- Eager to contribute to the centre's learning environment and community.
- Current Food Safety Supervisor and Food Handler Certificate.
- Experience preparing meals in a commercial, education, healthcare or childcare setting.
- Reliable transport.
- Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
