Details: The Policy, Planning and Built Environment Group is seeking applications for the position of Senior Director, Strategic Planning Policy Projects within the Strategic Planning, Transport and Policy Branch. The Strategic Planning, Transport and Policy Branch is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team delivering short, medium and long term strategic planning, transport planning and policy projects, to facilitate integrated planning, transport and land use and built form that is well planned, sustainable, and responsive to the strategic directions set by the ACT Government.
The Senior Director will provide strategic leadership within an integrated land-use and transport planning and policy function. The role ensures high-quality analysis, strong cross-government collaboration, and effective project delivery to support coordinated, long-term integrated land-use and transport planning outcomes for the ACT.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Highly Desirable

Tertiary qualifications and experience in strategic land use planning, urban and regional planning and policy, social planning, urban economics, environmental policy or other relevant professional area.

Extensive experience in managing and leading a team to deliver outcomes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Holds a relevant planning qualification, or workplace experience which would be eligible for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia.
Note: This is a temporary position available from 8 September 2026 to 26 January 2028 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
