Metro Guards is seeking experienced K9 Security Handlers / Security Guards with Dog for upcoming specialist security work at industrial, construction, demolition, and high-risk commercial sites.
Applicants must have their own trained security dog, own transport, and be available for night shifts, weekends, and casual work.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
Current Victorian security licence
Current authority/endorsement to perform guard with dog security work
Own trained security dog suitable for industrial/construction environments
Own reliable transport and logistics
Previous K9 handler experience preferred
Construction, demolition, industrial, or warehouse site experience preferred
Ability to work nights and weekends
Computer literacy and ability to use mobile apps for sign on/sign off, site reporting, safety reporting, incident reporting, photos, and shift updates
Professional presentation, reliability, and strong communication skills
Compliance
The guard, handler, dog, transport, training, deployment, and work practices must comply with all applicable Victorian Government, Victoria Police, local council, animal welfare, domestic animal, security licensing, insurance, WHS/OH&S, and client site requirements.
Victoria Police states that a security guard licence endorsed for guard with dog requires dogs used for security to be trained to the minimum obedience level under the Domestic Animals Regulations 2015.
Agriculture Victoria notes that a dog used to guard non-residential premises is treated as a dangerous dog under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and must comply with specific identification, housing, fencing, restraint, and notification requirements.
