An award-winning Subcontractor is looking for a Safety Officer to work closely with our Darwin Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the fastest-growing company in Darwin.
The Role
This is a highly autonomous role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a very fast-moving organisation. Functions of the role include:
- Providing advice and support in a multi-site operation
- Assessing sites with hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
- Training employees in safety-related subjects.
- Conducting formal site inspections and audits for WHS Compliance.
- Reviewing SWMS's and ensuring contractors and team members are inducted.
- Providing safety related feedback to all levels of the organisation.
- Responsible for all workshop/site safety management and control measures, including but not limited to SWMS, SOP’S, Asbestos containing material control procedures, specialized tools control processes, general and contaminated waste storage and disposal, carpark traffic management through safety signage and workshop safety signage etc.
- Assist with the preparation, supply and maintenance of safety equipment as required to team member
- Vehicle maintain logs and control records
- Manage and maintain PPE and Asbestos material
- Safety Induction and toolbox meeting preparation and organization
- Responsible for the ongoing creation of the various safety stores processes, incl. Inventory control / Management and supply and Issue of equipment to team members as required
- Maintain risk and issue logs and change control records as required
- Co-ordinate training for team members on Asbestos Handling and Processes, Safety and any other relevant procedural matters
To be successful you must;
- Self-discipline and drive.
- Experience in building and Construction is essential
- Strong IT skills
- Effective communication skills, the ability to communicate at all levels across the organisation.
- Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.
