The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, NEPEAN Longwall is seeking an experienced Fabrication Leading Hand to develop, supervise, monitor, implement and review manufacturing and installation works within the Longwall facility.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role will assist the Fabrication Supervisor and Project Coordinators by supporting workshop teams, coordinating construction activities, maintaining work standards and helping ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and in line with quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities-
Supervise, monitor and review manufacturing, fabrication and installation activities within the Longwall facility.

Assist Project Coordinators in resolving construction and production-related issues.

Assist the Fabrication Supervisor in managing and overseeing trades, apprentices and subcontractors.

Adhere to schedules and plans to optimise construction and workshop activities.

Work closely with subcontractors to ensure project plans, schedules, quality standards and safety requirements are met.

Assist with fault finding on operating machinery, plant and equipment, including identifying bottlenecks, maintenance needs and improvement opportunities.

Maintain compliance with workplace health, safety, environmental and legislative requirements.

Keep equipment in a fit-for-purpose condition and arrange for qualified persons to maintain equipment to manufacturer specifications.

Address safety issues, report incidents promptly and participate in incident investigations and WHS improvement activities.

Set objectives, targets and work standards for teams, apprentices and individuals, then review and reinforce expectations.

Train, mentor and coach team members and subcontractors to support a high-performing workshop environment.

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, systems and processes.

Manage contractor performance by reviewing work, providing feedback, recognising exemplary performance and correcting unsatisfactory performance within contract requirements.entify opportunities to improve work methods, performance, housekeeping and overall workshop efficiency.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a practical and confident workshop leader with strong fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industry experience and the ability to support trades, apprentices and subcontractors while maintaining safety, quality and schedule expectations.

Relevant Fabrication Trade qualifications
- Experience leading or supporting fabrication, manufacturing, workshop or heavy industrial teams.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to evaluate and solve complex problems in a practical workshop environment.

Strong attention to detail, persistence and tenacity.

Adaptability, flexibility and the ability to lead fairly while responding to team needs.
