About the Role
The Winegrowing Company is seeking a self-motivated and experienced vineyard operator to join our small, dynamic vineyard team. Reporting directly to the Vineyard Manager, you will possess the versatility to work seamlessly both independently and as a collaborative team player.
Responsibilities and Tasks Include:
- Machinery Operations: Execute tractor operations including slashing, mulching, and spraying.
- Harvest Operations: Operate harvesting machinery, including driving a Braud 9090X De-stemmer harvester, gondolas, and coordinating hand-harvesting activities.
- Canopy Management: Perform precise pruning and vine training to optimize fruit quality.
- Irrigation Maintenance: Oversee basic service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate operational records with a strict adherence to best-practice policies and procedures.
- WHS Culture: Actively contribute to and promote an ongoing culture of workplace health and safety.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in vineyard operations or a relevant agricultural enterprise.
- Minimum Experience Requirement: A minimum of 2 years experience in vineyard operations or relevant agricultural enterprise is essential for this position.
- Industry Knowledge: A sound understanding of agronomic principles and sustainable viticulture practices.
- Technical Aptitude: Proven experience in mechanical, outdoor, and ground-work-based roles, including basic maintenance-level skills for equipment servicing and repairs.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, a willingness to continuously learn, and a positive team-oriented attitude.
- WHS Awareness: A strong safety consciousness and working knowledge of standard work health and safety (WHS) requirements.
- Licensing & Tickets:
- Required: Valid C-Class driver's license.
- Highly Desirable: forklift and loader tickets, current Chemical Certificate (ChemCert), and a current First Aid certificate.
- Eligibility: Must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
