What we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced Biosecurity Weeds Officer to join Council’s Waste and Environment team. As part of this team, you will you will be reliable, adaptable and safety-focused, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work confidently both independently and alongside others.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ever-changing dynamic team within the Mid-Western Regional Council.
This role is a Casual position, based on site in Mudgee, primarily supporting Council’s roadside spraying program and associated biosecurity weed control activities across the region.
The salary range being offered for this casual position is $42.74 - $48.11 gross per hour plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
Key Accountabilities
- To provide technically sound advice to Council staff, rate payers and occupiers of land on issues relating to Biosecurity matters and appropriate controls.
- To ensure Council ratepayers and occupiers of land within the region are legally compliant with respect to legislative requirements of the Biosecurity Act 2015.
- To deliver effective weed control via inspection and spraying in accordance with the Biosecurity regulation.
- To inspect, identify, map, monitor and control Biosecurity matter in the council area in accordance with council policy and procedure.
- To carry out environmental control inspections and management duties on Council owned and managed properties as required.
To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement.
