About the role
The Procurement Specialist will develop and improve Thread Together’s approach to sourcing and managing donated new clothing and associated operational services.
The role will analyse anticipated community demand, current inventory, incoming donations and operational capacity to determine what clothing is required, when it is needed and how it should be sourced.
Working closely with our Fashion Partnerships, Warehouse Operations, Programs and Finance teams, the Procurement Specialist will help ensure that incoming clothing is relevant, timely and aligned with the needs of the communities we support.
Key responsibilities
· Develop procurement and inbound supply plans based on inventory levels, community demand and distribution priorities.
· Analyse clothing requirements by category, size, season, climate and demographic group.
· Identify supply gaps, duplication and oversupply and recommend sourcing priorities.
· Develop category plans, donation specifications and acceptance criteria.
· Assess proposed donations against inventory requirements and operational capacity.
· Analyse fashion donor history, donation volumes, product categories and supply patterns.
· Develop forecasts and reports covering expected donations, supply gaps and procurement performance.
· Support the evaluation and onboarding of new fashion supply partners.
· Work with the Fashion Partnerships team to communicate priority clothing requirements to donors.
· Review partner performance and recommend improvements to the relevance and reliability of incoming supply.
· Support the procurement and evaluation of inbound freight, transport, packaging and other operational services.
· Compare supplier proposals, pricing, service coverage and contractual terms.
· Develop procurement procedures, evaluation criteria and recordkeeping requirements.
· Identify and manage risks relating to seasonal supply, unsuitable stock, transport capacity and reliance on major donors.
· Support the procurement of clothing required for remote programs and pre-positioned disaster-response reserves.
· Prepare recommendations and procurement reports for management.
Pay: $80,500.00 per year
