Company Description
Showtime Consulting is a leading provider of Shielded Cloud and Digital Solutions across Australia and New Zealand. We specialise in delivering secure, enterprise‑scale technology outcomes within highly regulated environments, supporting government and national security programs.
We partner with clients delivering mission‑critical capabilities that require disciplined delivery, strong stakeholder engagement, and high‑quality outcomes across cyber security and cloud‑enabled environments
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Elastic Platform Engineer (Resident Engineer) to support the operation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of a complex Elastic (ELK) observability and search platform within a secure government program.
In this role, you will manage a customer‑directed backlog end to end - keeping the platform healthy, secure, and continuously improving - while working across business and technical teams in a fast‑paced, ITIL‑governed delivery environment.
This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused engineering role suited to someone who is highly organised, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating with precision inside strict government standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the customer‑directed backlog across ITIL incident, problem, request, and change management
- Perform Elastic Stack platform lifecycle activities - version upgrades, security patching, health checks, and remediation across ECE (Elastic Cloud Enterprise) environment
- Build and maintain Logstash pipelines and onboard new data sources to agreed standards
- Design, build, and maintain Kibana dashboards, visualisations, and alerting for mission‑critical systems
- Automate operational and configuration tasks using Ansible and Linux scripting
- Produce operational and executive reporting, converting high‑volume logs and telemetry into clear, actionable insights
- Integrate data across enterprise sources (e.g. JDBC/SAP HANA, SAML, SNMP, Nginx, Dynatrace)
- Contribute to security, risk, and governance documentation, ensuring audit‑ready outputs
- Bridge across multiple delivery, customer, and vendor teams to drive resolution and alignment
- Maintain accurate documentation and support effective knowledge transfer and long‑term system sustainment
What You’ll Need
- Experience in platform, systems, or observability engineering within complex environments
- Hands‑on experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats/Elastic Agent); ECE experience highly regarded
- Strong Linux administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred) and automation using Ansible and scripting
- Experience with ITIL service management — incident, problem, request, and change
- Experience with data integration and pipeline development
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including turning high‑volume logs into operational and executive reporting
- Excellent communication skills across both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Ability to operate with precision within strict government SOPs and manage competing priorities
Desirable Experience
- Elastic Certified Engineer certified
- ITIL certification
- Experience in secure government or national security environments
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as ISM, PSPF, or Essential Eight
- Exposure to integrations including SAP HANA, SAML, SNMP, Nginx, and Dynatrace
- Red Hat certification (e.g. RHCSA)
