Umberto Espresso Bar - UmbertoGroup

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen operations at our neighbourhood pasta bar. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating and executing a multi regional Italian menu for lunch and dinner, special events and private functions. This is a hands on role leading a small team with ambitions to continue to grow.

What you'll be doing

Developing and implementing creative, seasonal menus that highlight the finest locally sourced ingredients
Managing and leading a team with enthusiasm and professionalism to ensure efficient and high-quality food preparation
Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in the kitchen
Collaborating with the restaurant management team to monitor food costs and maintain profitability
Ensuring labour costs are managed properly through effective recruitment and profitable rostering
Continuously seeking ways to improve kitchen operations and enhance the overall dining experience for our guests

What we're looking for

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role, preferably with a high quality pasta focus
Proven track record of creating and executing successful seasonal menus that reflect the best of Italian cuisine
Someone who has an eye for detail, quality and consistency
Proficiency and willingness to use technology
Ability to deliver business profits through strong labour and COGS management
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen management best practices
Passion for using high-quality, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create a familiar and comforting dining experience
