BUILD MECHANIX PTY LTD is an established construction business operating in Adelaide, South Australia. We undertake a range of building, renovation, maintenance and carpentry projects and are committed to delivering quality workmanship and reliable construction services to our clients.
Due to ongoing business requirements and project workload, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Carpenter to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the Position
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a broad range of carpentry and construction activities across various building projects. The successful applicant will work independently and as part of a team to complete carpentry work safely, efficiently and in accordance with plans, specifications, building requirements and project schedules.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, plans, specifications and construction documents.
- Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other construction materials accurately.
- Construct, install and repair structural frameworks, walls, floors, roofs and other building components.
- Undertake residential and general building carpentry work as required.
- Perform framing, rough carpentry, fit-out and finishing carpentry.
- Install doors, windows, frames, skirting boards, architraves and other fixtures.
- Construct and install timber structures and components according to project specifications.
- Carry out renovation, extension, repair and maintenance carpentry works.
- Set out and prepare work areas before commencing construction activities.
- Select and safely operate appropriate hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment.
- Calculate and estimate quantities of materials required for specific tasks.
- Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with specifications.
- Identify and rectify construction defects and carpentry issues.
- Work from measurements and specifications to achieve accurate finishes.
- Coordinate with builders, supervisors, subcontractors and other trades on site.
- Assist with the preparation, handling and installation of construction materials.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and site safety requirements at all times.
- Comply with relevant building codes, regulations and Australian Standards.
- Complete assigned work within required project timeframes.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, attention to detail and professionalism.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A Certificate III in Carpentry, relevant Australian trade qualification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience working as a Carpenter in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and technical drawings.
- Good measuring, calculation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Reliable attendance and a professional approach to work.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current driver's licence will be viewed favourably.
