We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter & Decorator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating work across residential and/or commercial projects, ensuring all work is completed to a professional standard, on time and in accordance with safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, filling, patching and priming.
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
- Complete interior and exterior painting and decorating projects.
- Repair and prepare walls, ceilings, doors, trims and other surfaces.
- Match colours and finishes as required.
- Apply wallpaper, decorative finishes and other wall coverings where required.
- Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures and surrounding areas during preparation and painting.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
- Select and use appropriate paints, materials, tools and equipment for each project.
- Ensure completed work meets quality and client expectations.
- Identify and report any surface defects or additional work requirements.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate professionally with clients, supervisors, contractors and other trades.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain and care for painting equipment, tools and materials.
- Complete work within agreed timeframes and minimise disruption to clients and other trades.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Painter & Decorator.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and finishing.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in various environments.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- A strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant painting and decorating qualification or trade certification preferred.
- Current driver's licence.
- White Card or relevant workplace safety certification where required.
- Appropriate PPE and safety practices must be maintained at all times.
