Your gig
Reporting to the Finance Manager in this 14-month parental leave cover, you'll play an important role in keeping our finance operations running smoothly and supporting the rhythm of month-end.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with data and building strong relationships across the business. You'll work closely with finance and operational teams to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and useful.
In this role, you'll:
- Support month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, workpapers and reporting packs
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with P&L reviews and variance analysis
- Maintain fixed asset and capex registers, including additions, disposals, depreciation and asset reconciliations
- Complete bank, credit card, cash, daily sales and member-related reconciliations
- Process approved member refunds and support direct debit reporting, receipt matching, rejection files and follow-ups
- Assist with BAS workpapers, FBT analysis, ABS survey support and other compliance reporting requirements
- Provide backup support for accounts payable activities, including invoice coding, approval follow-up and payment run readiness
- Respond to finance queries from club and support office teams
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve finance documentation and controls
All about you
- You love getting into the detail and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. You're organised, dependable and enjoy finding smarter ways to get things done
- You have around 2-4 years’ experience in finance or accounting, supported by a completed accounting, business or finance qualification
- You’re CPA or CA qualified, currently working towards it, or an experienced Assistant Accountant ready to take the next step
- You understand the month-end rhythm, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, workpapers and reporting
- You’re confident working with fixed assets, capex, depreciation and balance sheet accounting. Experience supporting BAS and FBT processes would be a bonus. A+ for you.
- You’re comfortable using Excel to make sense of the detail, including PivotTables, lookups and structured reconciliations
- You’ve used finance systems or ERPs before. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Adyen, Exerp, NAB or similar platforms would be handy, but it isn’t essential
- You can balance deadlines, competing priorities and recurring month-end cycles without losing your cool
- You build strong relationships with finance and non-finance teams and can explain the numbers in plain language
- You care about getting things right and naturally look for ways to leave processes cleaner, clearer and easier for the next person
