The Research, Evaluation and Privacy Assurance Branch (REPAB) sits within the Research and Policy Division and lead critical pieces of work in relation to research, evaluation and data privacy compliance.
REPAB aims to support improvements to the health and wellbeing of veterans and families of veterans by increasing the production, use, and sharing of research-and evaluation-based evidence to support decision making, policy, program, and service design. REPAB undertakes a variety of functions including relationship, contract, and project management; procurement; governance and secretariat support; stakeholder engagement; and communication.
The Program Governance & Evaluation (PG&E) section’s functions are an important part of DVA’s research and evaluation activities, supporting effective structures and processes for evaluation planning and delivery, capability uplift, and alignment with internal policies and whole-of-government evaluation expectations, including engagement with the Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE).
PG&E is seeking an APS5 Program Governance Officer to support the delivery and continuous improvement of DVA’s evaluation function, with a focus on promoting evaluation involving veterans. The officer should comply with relevant guidelines, legislation, policies and procedures, and enable high-quality, ethically robust evaluation.
DUTIES
As an APS 5 Program Governance Officer you will be required to:
- Contribute to DVA evaluation activities through strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and procurement, contract and project management

Support the implementation and delivery of DVA’s VF-LINK model and its associated activities

Support the continued improvement of DVA's evaluation governance frameworks, including direct support to governance bodies

Support work contributing to evaluation activities, for example, collaborating with colleagues across DVA on matters such as ethics, data and privacy
-
Support DVA’s partners working on existing or future evaluation activities

Support the Branch as it progresses Royal Commission and ANAO recommendations related to research and evaluation, including data-related work

Contribute to Ministerial/Executive briefings on evaluation matters.

ELIGIBILITY
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).

All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
