You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality reactive and planned maintenance, non-routine construction, and property connection services across Redland City’s water and wastewater networks. From maintaining hydrants and mains to supporting critical infrastructure, your work will make a real difference every day - all while operating safely and efficiently.

You’ll be contributing to services at scale - supporting a network that delivers over 14 billion litres of safe drinking water to more than 65,000 properties and treats over 14 billion litres of wastewater each year. Using your practical skills, you’ll help deliver essential works, support efficient resource use, respond to customer needs, and ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on, field-based role with real opportunity - grow your skills, gain industry qualifications, and progress your career as you build experience and technical capability.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure
Operating tools, small plant, and equipment safely in a field-based environment
Performing manual labour tasks, including confined space entry and traffic management
Following health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, identifying risks as needed
Working collaboratively to deliver tasks safely, efficiently, and on time
Providing professional customer service and communicating clearly with customers and the community when required.
Skills and experience:
Hands-on experience in construction, labouring, or a similar outdoor work environment (water industry experience is a bonus, not essential)
Confidence using tools, small plant, or equipment, along with a willingness to keep learning and building your skills
Experience working outdoors and performing manual labour, including tasks like confined space entry and traffic management
A strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental practices
A reliable, team-focused approach with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
Good communication skills and a genuine focus on providing helpful, friendly customer service

Eligibility:
- You'll hold a Current Class C drivers' licence.
- You'll hold a Medium Rigid (MR) licence or the ability to acquire.
- You'll have the ability to participate in the rotating after-hours on-call roster, including weekends and public holidays .
- You'll have the physical capability and ability to hold a confined space entry certificate.
- You'll prepare to work safely in the construction industry (Construction White Card).
