About Us
The future of the world is increasingly digital and connected — yet many Australians still suffer from frustratingly slow internet.
At Gigacomm, we believe in the power of connectivity to improve the world we live in. We build and operate an independent network using the latest technology to provide reliable, ultra-fast internet to Australian homes and businesses up to 2GB/sec.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team who bring different perspectives, help best represent the customers and communities we serve, and contribute to building a rewarding culture.
About the Role
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and support of Gigacomm’s corporate IT environment — end-user devices, user accounts and identity, software and licensing, and the IT service desk. This is a hands-on operational role: you’ll ensure that staff have the hardware, access, and support they need to do their work reliably and securely.
You’ll sit within the Technology team, reporting to the Corporate IT Team Lead, and work closely with internal stakeholders across People & Culture, Platform Engineering, and business units to keep people productive and resolve issues quickly as Gigacomm scales.
This is a Melbourne-based hybrid role. You will be required to be on-site three days a week. Gigacomm is an AI-first team — we expect this role to be open to using AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT/Codex, Copilot) to assist with operations.
What You’ll Do
Hardware & Device Provisioning
-
Own end-to-end laptop and hardware provisioning — ordering, Autopilot and Apple Business Manager enrolment, Intune configuration, setup, and handover for new starters
- Manage device collection, wipe, and deprovisioning for departures
- Maintain the hardware lifecycle: procurement, deployment, repair, refresh, and disposal
Service Desk & End-User Support
-
Serve as the first point of contact for staff IT issues across Windows and Mac — triage, resolve, and escalate complex issues
- Own user onboarding and offboarding: provisioning and deprovisioning Entra ID accounts, licences, group membership, and access in coordination with People & Culture
- Administer accounts and identity across Microsoft 365 and Gigacomm’s multi-domain Entra ID environment
- Maintain ticket and documentation hygiene — working tickets in Jira and keeping Confluence runbooks current
Endpoint & Account Security
-
Own operational endpoint and account security — device compliance, endpoint protection, and patching via Intune update rings, plus software distribution
- Provide first-response to security events affecting end-user devices and accounts, escalating as required
- Support audit and compliance activities related to endpoint and identity security
Procurement & Vendor Support
-
Support the Corporate IT Team Lead in managing vendor and supplier relationships
- Raise orders and source hardware, software, and licences as required
What You’ll Bring
Essential
-
2+ years’ experience in IT systems administration, IT support, or end-user computing
- Hands-on experience administering a cloud productivity and identity platform — such as Microsoft 365 / Entra ID or Google Workspace — across both Windows and macOS devices
- Experience running an IT service desk or helpdesk with strong ticket and documentation discipline
- Sound understanding of operational security practices — MFA, Conditional Access, and access hygiene — with an endpoint and identity focus
- A strong end-user manner and the patience to support non-technical staff
- A methodical troubleshooting mindset: analytical, thorough, and focused on root cause
- Comfortable using or learning AI-assisted tooling to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Low ego, high EQ — humble, curious, and energised by respectful, data-driven problem solving
Preferred
-
Experience in a telecommunications or ISP environment
- Hands-on experience with Intune, Autopilot, and Apple Business Manager for device enrolment, configuration, and compliance
- Specific experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
- Understanding of ITIL practices
- Skill in documenting solutions, procedures, and operational runbooks
- Some exposure to IT procurement and vendor coordination, supporting a team lead or manager
Relevant, hands-on experience matters more to us than formal certification.
