In this role, you'll:
You’ll lead the delivery of intelligent transport technology across major road programs, including high-profile projects such as the Western Harbour Tunnel. As Senior Manager Road Systems Delivery, you’ll oversee the end-to-end delivery, integration, and operational readiness of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) across motorway and arterial networks. Your team is responsible for delivering and integrating the full suite of road systems technology and smart motorway technology. You’ll provide strong technical leadership across complex programs, guiding delivery while driving innovation and continuous improvement to enhance network performance, safety, and long-term value.
You’ll plan, deliver, and integrate ITS solutions that meet operational, safety, and strategic requirements, while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, governance frameworks, and transport policies. Working closely with stakeholders including TMC operators, technology leaders, delivery partners, and vendors. You’ll also proactively manage risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies to maintain operational continuity.
In addition, you’ll drive innovation by identifying opportunities to improve system performance, maintainability, and lifecycle value. You’ll provide expert advice to senior leaders, oversee program budgets, schedules, and reporting, and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery.For more information on this position and business unit, view the role description and information pack.
About you
You bring strong experience working on major road or infrastructure projects, with exposure to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) either in delivery or closely aligned roles. You’ve likely spent time on the ground supporting large-scale programs, giving you a practical understanding of how road networks operate and how technology integrates into real-world environments.
You may come from a civil or infrastructure background with experience partnering closely with ITS or technology teams, or have held roles where you’ve managed programs that include smart motorway or road systems delivery. Either way, you have a solid grasp of how ITS solutions function and the value they bring to operational performance and safety.
You’re a capable program or project leader with experience managing complex technology or infrastructure initiatives, including integration, commissioning, and readiness for operations. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across civil, technology, and operational teams, and confidently influence outcomes in complex environments.
Your experience also includes working within structured governance environments, with an understanding of transport policies, engineering standards, safety, and compliance requirements. You’re comfortable managing vendors and contracts, and have a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while providing clear, strategic advice that supports successful delivery outcomes.
