As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and vehicle system using 3D CAD software and engineering best practices.
Please note Australian Citizen is mandatory for this role.
You will play a key role in:
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), GD&T, and technical documentation to support production.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and design analyses to optimise product performance.
- Develop designs that meet requirements for manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, and cost.
- Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve design issues during prototype, production, and sustainment phases.
- Support prototype builds, design verification, qualification testing, and validation activities.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, design optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage design changes and maintain configuration integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs comply with Defence standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience in mechanical design using CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Inventor).
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
- Experience designing mechanical components or assemblies for defence, automotive, or heavy vehicle applications.
- Experience supporting prototype development, design verification, and product testing.
- Experience working within a configuration-controlled product development environment. 12+ years of software engineering and platform delivery experience
