About the Role
St Peters Lutheran College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our Food Services team. The Cook plays a vital role in supporting the efficient and high-quality operation of the College's Food Services department, assisting with preparation and cooking of meals and supporting catering tasks safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise, produce, and present meals to the highest standard.
- Support the Chef and Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety and proper storage.
- Be aware of food allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a strong commitment to providing healthy and appealing menu options.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively liaise with colleagues and subordinate staff, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
What You Bring
- Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, and a minimum 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in an education, boarding or institutional setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene legislation, food safety standards and allergen management.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present nutritious, well-balanced and appealing meals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to the College’s Christian ethos and values.
